Studio Policy
SCHEDULING
Lessons are available for either a half-hour (25 minutes) or an
hour (50 minutes), on a regularly scheduled (same day and time every
week for a minimum of one month) or occasional basis. Daytime hours
are preferable, but evening and weekend lessons may also be
scheduled around my rehearsal and performance activities, and may be
subject to a waiting list.
Studio performances, classes and other group events are scheduled
by mutual convenience and may incur additional charges for hiring
musicians or halls.
PRIVATE INSTRUCTION RATES
REGULARLY SCHEDULED LESSONS: A half-hour lesson on a regularly
scheduled basis runs $27.50, and an hour runs $47.50. Group rates
are available on request.
Fees are to be paid the first lesson of each month for the entire
month; i.e., four half-hour lessons is $110, and four hour lessons
is $190. In the event there are five Mondays or Tuesdays, etc., in a
given month, the fifth week will be a week off for both student and
teacher.
OCCASIONAL LESSONS: A half-hour lesson on an occasional basis
runs $30 and an hour runs $60. This fee is to be paid at the
beginning of the session. Group rates are available on request.
There will be a $30 service charge for any returned check due to
insufficient funds.
CANCELLATIONS
You must notify me of cancellations at least 24 HOURS IN ADVANCE.
I will do likewise. If a lesson must be missed and the required
notice has been given, the lesson will be rescheduled. If the
student cancels with less than 24 hours notice, the lesson will be
forfeited and will not be rescheduled. If I cancel a lesson with
less than 24 hours notice, I will reschedule the lesson and give you
another one FREE.
MISSED LESSONS
Missed lessons or lessons that have been cancelled with less than
24-hours notice will be charged the usual fee. Exceptions will be
made in cases of personal or family emergencies, local and national
emergencies, extraordinary acts of nature, and other unforeseen and
unpredictable events.
HOLIDAYS and VACATIONS
If your regularly scheduled lesson falls on a national or
religious holiday, it will be rescheduled for another day and time.
Lessons may be changed or temporarily suspended to allow for both
student and teacher vacations.
TERMINATION
One month's advance notice from the student is appreciated for
termination of lessons. I reserve the right to remove any student
from the teaching schedule who does not meet the requirements of
these Studio Policies and Expectations.
EXPECTATIONS
It's a good idea to record your lessons. Recording your lesson
will serve as a reminder of what was learned and help you better
prepare for your next one. For voice students, recorded notes and a
recording of the accompaniment will serve as a valuable rehearsal
tool. My studio is equipped with a CD recorder. Students are asked
to bring a blank CD -- either CD-R or CD-RW. I also will have some
on hand at a minimal charge. Alternatively, students may bring their
own recording device, either audio or video.
Dress comfortably in clothes that you can easily breathe and move
in; dress as if you were going to an exercise class.
Be sure to arrive on time for your lesson -- or a couple minutes
early. If possible, call if you are running late to let me know what
is going on. You forfeit any time
missed at the beginning of your lesson; I cannot continue your
lesson after the scheduled ending time.
It is my hope that you practice your craft daily. I realize,
however, that our lives are all very busy and daily practice is
sometimes not a possibility. Practice when you can and be sure to
refer to your audio or video tape.
GROUP RATES
Group instruction will be given on a case-by-case basis. Please
call me to discuss your needs and my studio rates.
MUSIC COSTS
Each student is responsible to buy his/her music.
